How to Make Your Sequences More Musical, Dynamic, and Expressive

Your MIDI studio can be a powerful compositional tool for music of any style. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore the musical and expressive techniques of using changes in volume, articulation, and tempo, as well as review some basic principles of classical orchestration, to breathe life, creativity, and feeling into your sequences. All of these techniques will work with either hardware synths/samplers or virtual instruments. Whether your goal is to create realistic orchestral mock-ups, or hip, contemporary grooves, there will be something of value for you in this seminar.

The clinic will be presented in Digital Performer (DP), and we’ll take a look at some power DP tips, but the basic principles can be applied to Logic or any other platform.

Once you have a handle on these expressive tools, your sequences are guaranteed to sound more musical and professional, and the only limitation is that of your imagination.
