Chris Kaufman

Christopher Kaufman began his life as an artist when he attended the New Orleans Center of Creative Arts during High School. There he studied oboe, piano, voice, music theory and history and started composing. Later he attended the Cleveland Institute of Music and Ithaca College. He earned his D.M.A. in music composition at Cornell University. After completing his education, Kaufman founded and directed CHIRON Performing Arts and produced annual multi-media concert events. Kaufman now maintains a successful private teaching studio for people of all ages in Brooklyn, New York and composes music for the concert stage and film. The short film, "Little Courage", for which he composed the music, has been featured at the New York Latino FIlm Festival and a number of others.

Recent Commission: "Hudson Valley Quintet" - by Quintet of the Americas - Environ- mental piece featuring live performance plus CDTape comprised of Natural, Orchestral and Electronic Sounds and Film of Natural and Artistic Imagery. 14 performances dur- ing initial season.

Recent Film: "Little Courage" with writer/director Veronica Caicedo. Screened at the Chelsea Theaters for the New York Latino Film Festival and is being screened at similar festivals around the country.
